INGREDIENT SPOTLIGHT: LICORICE ROOT

Licorice root (Glycyrrhiza Glabra) is a medicinal plant with a long tradition of therapeutic use in Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine. It's native to India and parts of Asia and is known for its anti-inflammatory, brightening, and antioxidant properties.

Glycyrrhizic acid is the most abundant chemical compound in licorice root and can help soothe irritated skin, redness, and itching. It can be effective when dealing with inflammatory conditions such as rosacea and eczema.

Another benefit is its brightening properties. Glabridin, a chemical compound that is found in licorice root, is known to help reduce hyperpigmentation. It helps to inhibit tyrosinase, which is responsible for the production of melanin. This helps for a more even complexion.

As for its antioxidant properties, licorice root also helps to protect the skin from free radicals, which are unstable atoms that can damage cells, causing aging.
